Defy Gravity

What is a Brow Lift?

An Endoscopic Brow Lift is a surgical procedure that lifts and smooths the eyebrow and forehead area. Brow ptosis, or sagging, is a common sign of aging and can unfairly age a person's appearance. For this reason, a brow lift has become a well-established procedure for rejuvenating the appearance and improving the patient's line of vision. When discussing the effects of aging on the skin, medical professionals distinguish between two kinds of aging. Intrinsic aging refers to the physiological changes that occur naturally as the years pass. Extrinsic aging, on the other hand, is the result of external factors like chronic sun exposure and lifestyle choices, all of which accelerate the intrinsic aging process and exaggerate the characteristics that reveal our years.

As the skin functions that formerly kept our complexion smooth and taut begin to slow, the structure of our skin changes, and lines, wrinkles, and increased skin laxity occurs. (2) Loss of collagen and elastin allows gravity to take hold, and eventually, the hood of the upper eyelid descends, often to the point of obstructing the patient's vision. Dr. Albert employs an endoscopic brow lift to correct this and achieve a younger, more refreshed appearance to the patient's appearance. As a specialist in this procedure, Dr. Albert has taught hundreds of doctors from around the world this revolutionary technique.

Aging and the Brow

What can a Brow Lift do?

You may never have thought much about your brow, that is, not until it started sagging. Beneath the skin lies a layer of subcutaneous fat and an important junction point for the muscles that control this area of the face. The chief muscle of the brow is the frontalis muscle, which is what allows us to raise our eyebrows, and over time, produces the horizontal lines that cross our forehead. When brow ptosis occurs, skin sags, and the frontalis muscle is unable to sufficiently lift the brow. However, the muscles that lower our brow continue to operate normally, resulting in a grumpy, tired expression. Brow ptosis can be caused by genetics, certain injuries, or medical conditions, but the most common cause is the natural aging process. (1) By performing his Boca Raton Brow Lift procedure endoscopically, Dr. Albert can reduce:

  • Surgery time
  • Amount of necessary anesthesia
  • Size of incisions
  • Duration of recovery

Dr. Albert performs brow lifts using Endotine devices, which are designed to lift and secure the sagging tissue in place. By the time the tissue has healed into its more youthful location, the biocompatible device will have dissolved. Because of his proficiency with this procedure and the consistently beautiful results that he produces, he is currently a Lead Instructor for the usage of these devices, teaching fellow surgeons across the world how to perfect their approach.

Personalized & Precise

Brow Lift Preparation and Procedure

An endoscopic brow lift is performed under either local or general anesthesia. After the anesthesia has taken effect, Dr. Albert will make a few small incisions above the hairline. These will allow him to insert the endoscopic devices necessary to perform the procedure. After releasing the layers of tissue that form the forehead and brow and making any necessary adjustments to the muscles, (3) he will insert the Endotine devices. These small dissolvable Endotines grip the tissues of the brow and then are secured into place above the forehead and under the skin to lift the lax brow tissue. The incisions are then sutured closed, and the patient will recover from the anesthesia. A Brow Lift is an outpatient surgery, so the patient will then be free to return home and begin their recovery.

Youthful Look

About Endoscopic Brow Lifts

The traditional Brow Lift procedure requires surgeons to make a long incision that crosses the top of the head. Although ideally hidden in the hairline, this extensive incision posed the risk of hair loss and visible scarring, as well as numbness and itching in the scalp. But with today’s medical technology, a brow lift can be performed in a less invasive manner, with only a few small incisions. The assistance of dissolvable devices that allow the surgeon to affix the tissue in a higher, more youthful position eliminates the extensive suturing that was formerly needed to elevate the brow. During endoscopic surgery, a tiny camera is inserted into a minuscule incision, allowing the surgeon to see the treatment area beneath the skin. This eliminates the need for large incisions and the risk of scarring. Additional small incisions allow the entry of small, specialized surgical tools so that Dr. Albert can perform the adjustments internally. Lighting and magnification allow him a high-definition, real-time view of the procedure.

Reverse Signs of Aging

Brow Lift Recovery, Results, and Aftercare

Swelling and bruising are to be expected following your endoscopic brow lift, but this will fade as your healing progresses. Applying cold compresses and keeping your head elevated, along with the pain medication Dr. Albert prescribes, will help manage any discomfort. As the area continues to heal, you may also experience temporary itching or numbness.

Because an endoscopic brow lift utilizes smaller incisions and is less invasive than a traditional Brow Lift, recovery time is much shorter. Patients are able to return to their normal routine, including work, within a week of their procedure. Please avoid strenuous activities for the next few weeks and follow your post-op instructions to ensure a speedy recovery. In a few months, you’ll begin to enjoy your final results, which will last for many years to come.

Maintenance

Maintaining Your Optimized Results

Patients that undergo a Brow Lift can look forward to a smooth forehead, reduced sagging, and eyebrows that have been elevated to a youthful, natural-looking position. For those seeking a more comprehensive rejuvenation, Dr. Albert also performs endoscopic facelifts. Using the same technology, Dr. Albert is able to eliminate sagging and creases and restore the patient's unique contours. Small incisions are carefully concealed above the hairline, and the effects of gravity and passing years are reversed.
